Shiba Scout Rescue is a newly developing non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to the rescue, training and rehoming of Shiba Inus and Shiba Inu mixes. We do not have a shelter or facility that can be visited by the public. Rather, all of our dogs are taken care of in Foster Homes. We are primarily located in Northern Colorado, however we do have Foster Homes throughout the Denver metro area. We have received our rescue license under PACFA (Pet Animal Care Facilities Act) and are listed as a non-profit through the Colorado Secretary of State, however we do not yet have our 501(c)3 tax deductable status through the IRS. We are also affiliated with All Breed Rescue Network.
Shiba Scout Rescue would like to dedicate the organization and its efforts to
Domicinda Hill and her Shiba, Kaya
Her love of the breed opened the eyes and hearts of many.
"If you want a dog who loves you unconditionally, who never has a bad day, who always has a smile on his face, and lives to please you...get a lab, golden retriever, boxer, etc.
If you want a dog with fire in his heart, spirit in his soul, a twinkle in his eye and a mind that will keep you on your toes...get a Shiba!"
"Owning a Shiba Inu is an adventure in itself."--annonymous

URGENT!!! FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!
Shiba Scout Rescue is in desperate need of Foster Homes! We are receiving 3 adult Shiba Inus from a puppy mill in Kansas. The dogs can no longer be used for breeding and are in risk of being euthanized if we do not get them out of there. We are looking for foster homes that can provide the proper care, training and socialization that these dogs need in order to prepare them for adoption to a forever family!
The dogs are all 4 years old, 2 males and 1 female. These dogs will need a calm patient home that can help them adjust to learning how to be a "dog". These dogs will never have been walked on a leash before, been in a house, potty trained or known an affectionate trust from a human being. All foster homes must agree to abide by the rescue's guidelines in caring for these dogs, especially concerning the circumstances they come from.
Foster Parents are provided with a crate, food, collar, harness, leash, tie-out (as a safety line even if there is a yard while the dog grows accustomed to its surroundings) and medical care through the rescue.
If you are interested in fostering pleace contact us immediately!
Thank you for thinking rescue!

NEW! Featured Pet of the Month!
Calling All the Single Ladies!!!
For the month of February, we are featuring a few good men! Shiba Scout Rescue would like to find all of our eligible bachelor's a new home so we are discounting the adoption fee of all of our male Shibas that are currently available for adoption by $25.00. These lonely boys include KiiKii, Naki, Kouin, and Kenta. The discount does not apply to female Shibas, males that are pending adoption or males that are on the coming soon page.
From left to right, top to bottom, are KiiKii, Naki, Kouin and Kenta
To get to know these boys better, check out their profiles on the Available Dogs page.
Shiba Scout Rescue takes in Shiba Inus from animal shelters statewide, as well as from people who can no longer keep their beloved friend. This way we relieve the shelter load and we are able to commit to the individualized attention of the breed and to each dog that comes through our doors. While awaiting adoption, our Shibas are accessed with men, women, children, other dogs, cats, and public situations such as going to the dog park or into a retail petstore. This way we know exactly what to look for when finding the right permanent home for each dog.
Every dog adopted out receives:
All potential owners must agree to at least one home-visit prior to adoption and agrees to complete all training recommended for the Shiba Inu that is adopted from the rescue.
Top: Here some of our dogs enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning in their foster mom's yard playing and socializing together in the sun.
Bottom: Our main foster home has a 1/2 acre fenced back yard that also contains within it two large fenced in dog runs each with their own insulated dog house. Dog runs can be used to isolate dogs that are either fearful or aggressive with other dogs while we are still working with their socialization skills. Our dogs are usually kept outside during the day, weather permitting, and come into the house in the evening.
Adoption Event!
Shiba Scout Rescue will be present at the Fort Collins PetSmart for their 2nd Chance for Love Adoption Event! The Adoption Event will run Friday Feb. 12th through Sun Feb. 14th from 10am-4pm each day.
We will have dogs present each day that are available for adoption. A detailed application and home visit must be completed before the adoption is approved, so no dogs will be adopted out straight from the event.

Although they look like cute little baby foxes, Shiba Inus are not meant for everyone. One should always fully research any breed before making such a life long commitment.
