Shiba Scout Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to the rescue, training and rehoming of Shiba Inus and Shiba Inu mixes in Colorado. We do not have a shelter or facility that can be visited by the public. Rather, all of our dogs are taken care of in Foster Homes. We are primarily located in Northern Colorado, however we do have Foster Homes throughout the Denver metro area.
We have received our rescue license under PACFA (Pet Animal Care Facilities Act) and are listed as a non-profit through the Colorado Secretary of State. We have applied for our 501c(3) status through the IRS, received our acceptance letter and are pending official approval.
Shiba Scout Rescue would like to dedicate the organization and its efforts to
Domicinda Hill and her Shiba, Kaya
Her love of the breed opened the eyes and hearts of many.
"If you want a dog who loves you unconditionally, who never has a bad day, who always has a smile on his face, and lives to please you...get a lab, golden retriever, boxer, etc.
If you want a dog with fire in his heart, spirit in his soul, a twinkle in his eye and a mind that will keep you on your toes...get a Shiba!"
"Owning a Shiba Inu is an adventure in itself."--Annonymous

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES AND DONATIONS!
Shiba Scout Rescue is in need for several foster homes and donations towards medical care to meet the demands of our incoming dogs. There never seems to be a slow point in doing rescue and there are always more dogs that need us. If you are able to provide a home and a heart we will provide the rest. All foster homes must first submit an application and agree to a home inspection and be in Colorado. The foster application can be found on our Foster A Dog page.
We also are in need of the following supplies in the form of donations:
If you can foster a Shiba, even for a couple of weeks, it would be a tremendous help!
If you are interested in fostering, please check out our Foster a Dog page and contact Beki at shibascout@yahoo.com
Every dog adopted out receives:
All potential owners must agree to at least one home-visit prior to adoption and agrees to complete all training recommended for the Shiba Inu that is adopted from the rescue.

Kenji is the very handsome 5 year old Red Shiba Inu that was adopted in the fall of 2010 after being surrendered by his owner. Shiba Inus are known for looking like a fox based on this popular rustic red coloring. There are 4 main Shiba Inu colors: Red, Sesame (red coloring with black tipped hairs evenly throughout the body), Black and Tan, and Cream.
